Some friends took me to visit a quaint little town on the banks of the Missouri River called Parkville. The weather had been unusually cold with heavy snow. We visited a beautiful park on the river called English Landing. The snow dappled, bare limbed trees towered over our heads. Large, circular ice flows spun down the river propelled by the current. The brown coloration of winter foilage which would have seemed drab under other circumstances, almost glowed in contrast to the white blanket of snow and the dark grey of the tree trunks. Up the hill across from the park you could see the orangy red buildings of Park University surrounded by snow. As we explored the university campus we learned that many of the buildings were actually built into caves in the hillside. What a memorable place and day!
